A Gandy Girl

Family Jewels

Family Jewels - M.J. O'Shea

So this was my second by this author and what a different journey this one was. Corkscrewed was such a surprisingly fantastic read (see review here) that I just expected more here.

I really enjoyed how this booked opened and my only initial complaint was the continuous time jumps and therefore lack of relationship development that I felt could have really enhanced what was taking place between them.  I mean we get an initial hookup and then miss the next SEVEN dates.  SEVEN!  Really?

But they came together for me and while I knew the shit would hit the fan at some point, I enjoyed not knowing how the hell this would ever work out.

Well...

Well...

After about 70% this book took a tailspin into another storyline that just left me wondering in the end what the point even was.  And the mysterious murderer...smack me upside the head...that came out of nowhere and made zero sense.

I probably would have landed around a 4 had things not gone this route so like I said, I enjoyed myself...but good grief. This last bit drops this to a easy 3 star book.

So unfortunate, as I feel that had there been some structure at all or editing in this it could have been so much better.  But maybe it's just me.

After sitting here for a few more hours thinking on this and getting further commentary from Marco, I just can't with the stupidity of some of this.  And that ending...
