KAGE - Maris Black

Fourth read complete...and it continues to get better and better.

Third read and this just gets better and better with the amazing audiobook with narration by JF Harding. That final scene was unbelievable, as always.

And I had the opportunity to do a buddy listen of sorts with Teo, who had not yet read this before, and a separate buddy listen with author Maris Black.  I can't speak for Teo, but I'm pretty sure she's in agreement with us, that the narration is just brilliant!

Definitely worth the listen!  And I am so excited that all three audiobooks are currently out and available!!!  Can't wait to continue.

Just as amazing the second time. This rough yet emotional relationship is perfect. ❤️❤️❤️

In that moment, with our bodies joined, our faces open, and our hearts exposed, I finally saw the clue that I’d been missing. What I saw was that Kage did want to hurt me. Desperately. He needed to take all of the pain in his heart and unload it on me.

Because he was damaged. I didn’t know exactly what that damage was or just how deep it ran, but it was a big part of who he was. And I had to be willing to accept his pain, and strong enough to take it.

Only then would I ever be able to love him.

Beautiful quote, amazing couple.

Reading Updates:

It may sound strange, but when he reached out for me like that, I felt the heat of a flush creep across my face. It reminded me of high school, when the hot senior guys would talk to the freshman girls, making them giggle and blush from nothing more than a simple touch. In other words, this Kage guy must have been made of 100% testosterone, because he had succeeded in making me blush like a schoolgirl.

“We’ve got an intern?” A man poked his head around the half wall at Catwoman’s back, but when he saw me, his face fell. “Oh, a male intern. It figures. I was about to be going all Bill Clinton up in here. So what are you going to be doing for us, male intern?”

“You’ve gotta admit it sounds dirty.”
“Nah,” he said, his voice low and seductive right beside my ear. “It’s only dirty if you do this.”
He dropped his right hand onto my thigh and ran his fingers deliberately up under the fabric of my shorts. His fingertips caressed the front of my underwear, skimming over my dick, and my entire body tensed.

“No, ma’am. I don’t think we’ve met.” He gave her one of those signature Michael Kage smiles— the ones that break hearts and incinerate panties. “I’m sure I would remember if we had.”
Oh Jamie...don't lie. Your boxer briefs are incinerated too. ;)

The truth was I had a humdinger of a gay crush on my client. Like dicks and balls and ass and muscles and man kisses. Like gay as shit. Like… ah, hell.

At first I couldn’t get my lips to move, but Kage moved his ever so slowly against mine, coaxing me into action. I parted my lips and felt the tip of his tongue slip between them. When my knees buckled, he was there to catch me, wrapping his strong arm around the small of my back and cinching me tightly against him. The knowledge that he was naked against my fully clothed body made me weak with anticipation.

Another reread...

I knew I was staring, but I couldn’t help myself. I’d never seen a person with such presence. He wasn’t bulky, though. On the contrary, he looked lean and lethal like a panther, with golden-green eyes to match.

“You’ve been watching too many tourism commercials, Mom. Get off the Lifetime channel, okay? It gives you women a distorted view of the world. There’s no rich Prince Charming waiting to sweep every plain Jane off her feet, everyone’s mother does not die of cancer, and Vegas is not as great as they’ll have you believe.”

After a few minutes of silence, Kage said in a gravelly voice, “Don’t ever fucking lie to me again.”
“I won’t,” I whispered. At that moment, I thought I’d rather die than ever lie to Michael Kage again.
I lay there feeling him pressed against me in the dark, listening to the sound of his breathing. I didn’t dare move, because I was afraid he might let go of me.

You can lie to everyone. Your parents, your friends, your preacher, your girlfriend, even yourself… But when you click that play button, your heart rate doubles, your dick gets axe-handle hard, and you come like a freshly-tapped fire hydrant… that’s truth right there.

Read #3...the audiobook. :D

JF Harding's voices for Jamie and Kage...

A perfect Dr Washburn and Layla too. I'm soooo pleased. ❤️❤️❤️

"Not my problem, brown nose."

"All work and no play makes Jamie boring as fuck."

Finally, Kage let me go and turned me around to face him. “Are you okay? I didn’t hurt you, did I?” The concern in his eyes was real, and it made me feel safe.

"You don't have to beg, baby."

"There is nothing wrong with crying for someone you love."
