This audiobook is the perfect example of making a great book even better. An absolutely beautiful accompaniment to the quite amazing story. The tone and pace was just as I had imagined. And seeing Colin this time and his relationship with Daniel was just heartbreaking. Can't wait to continue this audiobook ride with "Out of Nowhere"...and from what I hear, I will not be the least bit disappointed. *sighs*
Well I have to say, this book took me totally by surprise. Elsbeth said…”Hey, let’s BR this!”…I said “OK!” And yes…that was the extent of my knowledge about this book. Our dear BRer Susan bailed before I even started…hate that it did not work for her. L But for me…this was just the perfect book. So here’s my no nonsense review…
Are you looking for beautiful character development…
Are you looking for a book solely about the heartfelt relationship between two amazing men with little plot and zero angst…
Are you looking for a book with an absolutely awesome female best friend…
Are you looking for a book with unbelievably hot and emotional sex…
Well if this has intrigued you at all…
You will not be disappointed…this lands in the tops for the year for me. An absolutely unforgettable read…I want a Rex and a Daniel of my very own. <3
Thanks Elsbeth (and Nathan, who joined late) for the amazing BR!! Can’t wait for the next one.

I look up at him, startled. He’s looking at me intently, leaning forward, but his eyes are sad, dark.
“You’d be wasted on black and white, though. Your eyes.”

“Um. Is that wrong?” I say.
“Argh! I want to punch you!” Leo says.
“Sadly, we all know you can’t,” Will says, elbowing him out of the way and using tongs to pull a piece of bacon out of the water. It definitely doesn’t look the way it does at the diner.
“Bacon, bacon,” Leo chants, like some demented, carnivorous monk.
“Why the fuck would you boil bacon?” Will asks.
“Um. I thought it would be like hot dogs?”
“Jesus Christ, you boil hot dogs. You poor thing. I take it all back. Thank god Rex found you.”

"What,” I say.
“Did you fucking hear me?”
"No,” I say.
“I said you don’t have to come if you’re busy or something, but—”
"Are you fucking crazy? Of course I’m coming. I’m leaving now.”

"Tom Waits,” I whisper to Rex so Ginger can’t hear.
After that perfect static smear, Tom Waits counts off, “1, 2, 3, 4,” and the opening strains of “Ol’ ’55” start.
“Called it,” I say, and Ginger raises the bottle to me in a mocking toast.
Love Tom Waits...

A connection so you can find your way back to someone even when shit seems huge and unmanageable on your own. A promise to help just because you care about someone, a promise to help that doesn’t mean pulling away.
